History

The track originally operated in the mid 1960s as a 1/5 mile dirt oval.Historically, it's one of the oldest tracks in New England.

From 1971, it has operated as 1/4 mile oval. It was The Pines Speedway & the Nor-Way Pines Speedway.

After an ownership transition around 2002-2003, it re-opened as Legion Speedway.

In 2009, it became The Rattlesnake Motordrome. In 2010, it became Big Daddy's Speedbowl.

In 2012, a change of ownership and a restoration of it's name Legion Speedway.

In 2018, a change of ownership and a name change to RumTown Speedway.

A site devoted to the history of the track, along with photos and stories from the days of old, is hosted by Geetar Moses on his site Geetars Jalopy Junkies. We appreciate his homage to our track!
