Legion Speedway
Racing Without Limits and more
February is here and the last day of January sure was a good one. I had attended the Racing Without Limits discussion at the New England Racing Museum. The staff at the museum is doing some very good things for the New England racing family and make sure you visit them and follow along with the next wave of events. The museum is located next door to The Flat Track at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on RT 106 in Loudon New Hampshire. Racing Without Limits was a discussion with racers from all different types of racing in New England who rise above some physical challenges to continue their passion and love for motorsports. For those of you that attend events at Legion Speedway you have seen Jamie Comeau, Joshua Boissoneau race with the Granite State Micro Sprints. Jamie is a track favorite who grew up watching many of his family racing at the track, and all he wanted to do as a young child was to race. We did a story here about Jamie last summer if you want to check that out. To be honest he is one my favorite people at the track. Joshua Boisseneau has a very interesting story he shared as well. Some of which I did not know. We sponsored Joshua when he went out to the Tulsa Shootout this winter to compete. Joshua did a video for the local news station in Tulsa and had a good week overall. All the panelist at this event were amazing and there is no way I could write here what I felt or the passion they showed. Especially someone like Jay Blake, unbelievable what he overcomes to live his passion. Please go check this out at followadream.org. Then there was crowd favorite Bradley Grenier, who I never knew of but will be following now. Jordan Jenkins story was amazing as well. And also, Jen Getty she gave a brief story on her life. Again, way too much to keep going on you can watch it on the museum's Facebook page.
Next week I will be in Daytona Beach for the RPM workshops for track promoters across the country. I got a few friends at these events we attend to share ideas and learn from each other, things that work and mistakes made. When I was in Indy, I was given a task by a friend to come up with a way to have fun on social media and update website more frequently. Since then, I have been trying to come up with some things and was not sure of how to engage people about what we do, and how we do it. If we can't have fun with the fans and racers, why do it. I saw a post on IG from another favorite GSMS driver of mine. A kid with so much passion for driving his race car, and love of racing. Each time he visits the track he comes to me and asks if we have time tonight can I take some laps after the racing is done. We always say yes, and he would go until he ran out of fuel if we let him. I reached out to the friend and said I got an idea, they listened and said Well it could be fun or risky but overall, a great story about a local grassroots racers love. Some of you saw the post about my buddy Triston Puffinburger who goes by "Big T" and after we changed his fire suit to an O'Reilly Auto Parts design and a couple others, but the OAP won the votes. I reached out to Big T and got his permission to have a little fun and promote him and our track partners in a funny way regarding his post. For the next few winter months, we will have "Big T uesday", on our track's social media. Maybe Netflix will check it out and make Big T even more famous.
We also had some other ideas which will make their way to the social stuff as well. I know when we post things like Gentleman Jack Cook, stuff like the Ray Heath night many people enjoy the past days of Norway Pines, so we are working on that stuff too.
I had a post last week about Help Wanted we got some really good emails on that so we will be meeting up with those folks in the upcoming months. Our schedule is still be worked out to find a night that works for the racers who reached out. We will be racing Friday nights from June to mid-September. Wingless sprint cars, and Street Stocks will most likely be there every week. GSMS will have a good number of dates, and more. Street Stock rules will be out hopefully when I return from RPM. Lots more things to inform you with coming up soon.
Stay tuned
