Daytona RPM 2025 Workshops

Wentworth NH- Hello everyone who wants to read about my trip to Daytona for the 2025 RPM Workshops. What is RPM ? Racing Promotion Monthly is a monthly newsletter to anyone who organizes or officiates, promotes, or sponsors racing events. This is run by Joe Skotnicki who is the editor and guy who leads this great event with his talented staff to help us all in this sport. It is a place for the short track community to come together and share ideas and try and keep it going forward. It is a great way to network with short track promoters from around the country and even outside our country with track from Canada and Australia. Many racing vendors attend the trade show area to help tracks with questions they may have with becoming a dealer for fuel, tires, and others like insurance companies, websites, merchandising, and more. They bring in guest speakers from the industry to share stories about what they do. This year they had many good speakers. The industry is changing rather quick in so many ways. This is for me the most productive way to learn and network with some great people. Being in New England where it very uncommon for tracks to work together , ( yes I said it ) weather asphalt or dirt tracks. So many divisions where rules and such make it so teams can't race at different tracks without lots of changes that cost money. It's supposed to fun... Not just for the fans , but the racers, and the tracks. I could on forever about this. We are just a small grassroots track where all we want is fun but got to be safe doing it. Monday afternoon I sat in on a insurance roundtable discussion where many new things were brought up by the companies that insure race tracks. Tuesday afternoon was a discussion on the legal side of racetracks. This where track owners talk about the things that happen at short tracks, everything from a death to a dog shitting on a grandstand ramp. You may laugh but it's true. Other break out groups are very good too. What works at some tracks may not work at others , I take lots of notes and usually sit up front to hear and pay attention. They also award an ARPY - Auto Racing Promoter of the Year. This year was Steve O'Neal who is the promoter at Port Royal Speedway in PA. Port Royal is a very beautiful 1/2 mile dirt track. Steve has always answered any questions I have asked him and just a great guy when I have visited his track.
That is basically the short version of the workshops. Trust me when I say it's two full days of learning. Being inside all day when it was 88 and sunny outside was tough but well worth my time. I was able to get to spend Wednesday at the big track in Daytona. I was able to go in the garage area which was only open to race teams employees and guests on this day. It was Daytona 500 qualifying practice and then qualifying later that night. I was able to spend some time with a friend from Trackhouse racing and driver Helio Castroneves who is a 4 time Indy 500 winner, making his first attempt at driving a stock car. I told him he should run a Pro 4 at Legion this summer. So that was cool to listen to him and the team discuss the track and the car. I also got to talk with Dale Jr who was having a great day as a crew member on his first time as a cup car owner with the Jr Motorsports team and driver Justin Allgaier. Maybe you saw the video I posted with Jr doing a shoutout to the fans of Legion Speedway.

I am working on getting track partners to renew for 2025 and always looking for new ones, to make it all work. Some people have reached out about getting on our schedule for 2025 such as FWD and enduro type racing. Like I tell them get a proposal together and lets have a meeting. For some reason I never get much of a follow up. I am not going to just add a division without some knowledge or dialog of what they want. All tracks have the same ideas of what to do get people to their track. I would like to have a town hall style meeting to discuss our track for those who don't understand how this works, also they could educate me from their perspective. I doubt they would show up or be willing to have a discussion because it's easier to slander a business on social media these days.
I will stop there for now....LOL

I will update the State of NH House bill next week. If you have any interest of running Legion in 2025 please reach out.
