Legion Speedway

September 9th Winners

What a night of great racing action it was on Friday night. The cooler nights are helping track conditions and the drivers in all divisions are liking Legion Speedway even more. In the Late Model division the feature race went caution free with Matt Lashua dominating the race. Great side by side racing early for many laps by Kelly Miller and Tyler Trembaly. The Pro 4's saw some wild action as the drivers seemed to be feeling the full moon effects and made for some beating and banging for the fendered cars. In the end it was Wayne Pillsbbury Sr taking down the win followed by Jason Darling and Carl Overlock lll. The 600 non wing micros are really fast at Legion and this time out it was Mark Wiggett able to go the distance without spinning out. Wiggett has led in just about every race this season in the division but could not catch a break. Friday night he was out front for all 20 laps, with a closing Jack Koponen 2nd and Wayne Clark third. Then the Non Wing Sprint Cars came out for their 25 lap feature race. Wade Prentice would get the jump and lead with a very fast pace for a major portion of the race, on lap 21 something went wrong with the car and Prentice slowed in turn four. On the restart Mark Cole would get by Donald Ottati and then his motor expired as the leader. This gave the lead to Ottati who was going for three in row. On the restart he was able to get out in front and take another victory at Legion Speedway. Ottati was followed by Matt Collins and Nick Comeau.

NOTE; The points for the Non Wing Sprint Cars are current to date. All other divisions are being worked on as we still need driver information to make it correct. Without proper information the points can not be updated on here. We have them all on paper but not on the website. Should be done soon.

During the nights festivities track announcer Norman Roulx presented Dan Bowne with a picture of Dan driving his new water truck. Norm wanted to let the race fans know Dan's history of the race track and longtime dedication to dirt track racing in New Hampshire. Dan used to work the dirt and track prep at the former Canaan Fairgrounds track and been around Legion Speedway for many years including track ownership under the Rumtown Speedway. The 2022 track surface has been great from what the drivers say and all that credit goes to Dan for his dedication to the property.

Next event: Friday September 16 at 7pm
The JRC Transportation Sprint Cars of New England will be there along with a new event to hopefully be held each year with The New England Midget Nationals Presented by The Northeast Motorsports Museum. This Inaugural event will pay $500 to win which is a good start of something we can grow at Legion Speedway. Also racing will be the Non Wing Sprint Cars and the Modified division.

General admission for this event is just $10 for adults $8 for seniors and military with kids under 10 free with adult. Kids also get a ticket for the new bike giveaway, nd we have many other giveaways as well.

Your last chance to catch some winged sprint cars in New England in 2022.
