Sprint Cars of New England

Billington Claims First Win of 2020

Bradford VT. On a chilly Saturday night at Bear Ridge Speedway The Sprint Cars of New England were on hand to run a rescheduled race from an August rain out. With thirteen cars signing in at the pill draw it would be two heat races and an A main. The FK Rod Ends heat Race #1 saw Travis Billington winning the eight lap race after getting by Jim Lowery , who was followed by Jordan Fornwalt, Will Hull, Jake Williams , Tyler Austin and Caleb Lamson. The O'Reilly Auto Parts Heat Race #2 saw Chris Donnelly dominate the eight lap race with Scott Holcomb following , Floyd Billington , Rick Stone , Mike Horsch , and Wade Prentice. As the fans wrapped up in blankets and action was going to get hot on the racetrack. As the sprint cars lined up for the feature. After the invert it would be Jordan Fornwalt and Floyd Billington pacing the field to green. Floyd Billington would get the lead as they got into the back straightaway with Fornwalt glued to him . By lap five Chris Donnelly would be their for third with Scott Holcomb and Will Hull in tow. Rick Stone would get sideways in turn one and cut down in the infield only to keep going and get back on track in the backstretch . On lap eleven Fornwalt who was second would come to a stop in turn two with rear end trouble and bring out the races only yellow flag. On the restart Billington would have to hold off the pressure of Donnelly and Hull who were lined up behind him. He did just that as he set the pace and was leading as Donnelly and Hull raced for second . On the last lap Hull got by Donnelly to finish second and Donnelly settled for third. Followed by Holcomb and Jake Williams in fifth. The rest of the field were Travis Billington , Jim Lowery, Caleb Lamson, Mike Horsch, Tyler Austin, Rick Stone, Jordan Fornwalt, and Wade Prentice.
Floyd Billington also won a USAC DMA midget feature this night as well. As Floyd stated in Victory Lane " It took me a while to figure everything out this season but tonight we got our win finally" Hull and Donnelly were also discussing the fun racing they had for the second place balttle. So another good night of racing for Sprint Cars of New England. With just three races left to finish out 2020 next week it will be right back here at Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford VT on the 26th with the Time Trials and Twin Twenty lap features to decide who wins the $1,000 to win event. Then just two events at RumTown Speedway in October. Hope to see you there.
